Some of the ideas are paraphrased below:
- Don't bother saving unnecessary files. If you downloaded a sample item, check it out and then delete it. Periodically go through your files and get rid of out-of-date or irrelevant material.
- Use the library system to keep your documents organized and separated from your program files.
- Indicate "Draft" or "Final" version in the file name if you have works-in-progress.
- Keep similar files together. (PLEASE NOTE: Suggested practice, as described in the linked article, is to store all word documents together, all images together, all .pdf files together etc..., but we are going to store our files according to the topic and/or lesson. This will make uploading units to your online courses significantly easier!)
- Don't make multiple copies of a single file on your computer. Keep a clean copy of the file in its main folder and use shortcuts to link to that file.
