Excel Spreadsheet: grocery price compare
Customized spreadsheet which the students will use to collect and analyze information about prices at local stores which sell groceries. The students can use the spreadsheet’s functions to sort like items by price, to look at unit pricing, to see how the amount of money spent would vary from store to store if similar items were purchased at each store. The spreadsheet calculates the subtotal by multiplying the price times the quantity (students can do this on their calculators and see if they get the same answer). The spreadsheet also calculates the total price by calculating the sum of the subtotal plus the sales tax, if applicable, and rounding to two decimal places if needed.

Grouping Strategies:(If time at a computer is involved, how many computers are available and how will students be grouped?)
There are currently 19 students and 7 staff (2 special education teachers, 5 instructional assistants/job coaches in the program. The classroom is a 1:1 laptop classroom. Each student has a Windows 7 laptop designated for his or her classroom use. There is 1 iPad in the room at all times, and a mobile cart of 10 iPads available for class use, if needed. There are 3 flip digital video cameras. There is one SMART Board with a projector, attached to a Windows XP laptop. Students each have SMART Student Response “clicker”. There is an additional projector, attached to a Windows XP laptop, which projects onto a large screen to the side of the room.
Students typically begin and end the day in whole group instruction. Throughout the rest of the day, students are in groups of 1-4 students with 1-2 staff. Students are grouped according to their needs, interests, and observed preferences, with schedules based around their individual work sites/vocational training schedules.
Due to highly diverse student needs and fluctuating student work schedules, schedules vary day to day and week to week.
