Make a Plan
Prior to the community tour during which you will locate traffic signs, each group is to use bubbl.us to create a single graphic organizer detailing the plans for the trip.
Share the mind map with each member of your team and the classroom teacher. (Remember to use school-assigned username & email). Cover the following details in your plan:
Travel Planning:
- How will you get to your assigned location and back to school?
- Use Google Transit to plan a trip within MetroWest or, if outside of the MetroWest area, within the town not covered by the regional bus, see if there are public transit options within the town you will be covering. Remember, you could walk to a location to get a bus back; you do not necessarily have to walk in a full circuit.
- Use gmap-pedometer to further plan the walking path of your trip and to estimate the distance of your walk.
- Estimate your total travel time and the time you anticipate you will need for your project
Group Composition / Scheduling
- Who are the members of your group?
- What are the tasks that need to be carried out during this project?
- How will the responsibilities be shared/delegated?
- Use Google Calendar to plot the work schedules of the team members. (students and staff are to use their school-assigned email addresses and passwords).
- Plan multiple dates for when can the trip(s) could be scheduled so that all group members could participate.
Equipment / Material
- What do you need to bring with you?
Problem Solve in Advance
- How can you avoid having technical difficulties?
- What will you do if your group misses the bus you planned to take?
- What will you do if there is a medical emergency?
- What do you need to bring with you?
- What should people plan on wearing for the walk?
- What if the weather is really bad on the date you are planning the trip?
- What are some options if you find that you are running out of time during your trip?
- Other issues…
